What is a VPN?
VPN stands for "Virtual Private Network." It is software that modifies your network connection to make your computer operate as if it is on campus. The VPN secures your connection by encrypting communication from your computer to the UC Davis network.
When accessing UC Davis restricted services from any off-campus location, including your home, you should use the campus VPN to remotely access network shares. The appropriate VPN may vary depending on which department-affiliated services you may need to access.
