Mapping Network Drives on Personally Owned PCs

You must be on the Campus VPN.  Follow these instructions

 
CWS Project Drive Mapping 

From File Explorer (NOT a web browser) you can browse for CWS projects from one of the project shares by typing in the address bar:   \\apollo.cws.ucdavis.edu

You can manually map any of the above file shares manually a drive letter. 

  • Type Windows Logo + E to open File Explorer
  • From the Navigation Pane (left column) right click the "This PC" icon and select "Map Network Drive"
  • Choose these parameters:
    • Drive:  X:
    • Folder:  \\apollo.cws.ucdavis.edu\projects1\
    • Check Reconnect at sign-in
    • Click Finish.
Optional 

You can optionally map and see all projects from the share \\apollo.cws.ucdavis.edu\cws-projects.  You must follow these instructions to see project files from this share.

  • Type "cmd" on your computer to see the Command Prompt application.
  • Right-click or look for "run it as Administrator" to run an elevated command prompt.  You may be prompted for elevated credentials.
  • In the command prompt run the command:  fsutil behavior set SymlinkEvaluation R2R:1
  • Type Windows Logo + E to open File Explorer
  • From the Navigation Pane (left column) right click the "This PC" icon and select "Map Network Drive"
  • Choose these parameters:
    • Drive:  X:
    • Folder:  \\apollo.cws.ucdavis.edu\cws-projects\
    • Check Reconnect at sign-in
    • Click Finish

You should be able to browse all projects from the X:\ drive.
